Shaoyi is from China where she earned a B.S. degree in pharmacology (2008) at Peking University Health Science Center, and performed her Ph.D. work on virus-host interaction at Peking University (2016). She joined the Tessier-Lavigne lab with an interest in understanding how commissural axons in the spinal cord navigate to and across the midline
